Newcastle United began their new Premier League season today with a trip to Villa Park.
The game ended 0-0 and many will feel that the score-line could’ve been different with Alexander Isak on the pitch.
The Magpies were comfortably the better team in the game, but they could not find that clinical edge to convert their chances.
Their star striker who saved them so many times last season is currently embroiled in the transfer saga of the summer.
Alexander Isak has caused significant disruption to his club over the summer, missing the entirety of their pre-season schedule as he looks to force a move away.
Liverpool saw a bid in the region of £110m rejected earlier this month, but will return if Newcastle United accept defeat in keeping Isak, and if they can sign a suitable replacement for him.
Isak is desperately trying to force his way out of Newcastle United, as it has been confirmed that the player has gone on strike, and his exclusion from the match day squad today was very much a planned thing.
Following the game today, Craig Hope revealed that Alexander Isak is set to be given a club-record fine because of his actions.
His post on X reads: “Two points lost for NUFC
No other way to dress it up… with Isak, they win.”
“The club-record fine set to come his way won’t feel like nearly enough given the value of a PL win.”
Worrying times at Newcastle, as you feel as if this situation could reach a crunch point very soon.
Two or so weeks left of the transfer window, there is still a lot that can happen, and if Alexander Isak decides to continue to sit out Premier League games for Newcastle United, tensions will only rise.
