The latest report from France has revealed that Liverpool faces a significant challenge in signing one of their major summer targets.
The Reds have been smart and decisive so far in the transfer window.
Arne Slot’s side has completed five deals and is expected to secure even more before the window closes.
Not only have Liverpool signed well, but they have also done so while beating other teams to their targets.
Several other clubs wanted the likes of Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz.
However, Liverpool won the race for both, securing them for a combined fee of over £150 million.
The next highly-sought player expected to join Liverpool in the coming weeks is Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
The Englishman is wanted by several other clubs, but he is leaning more towards a move to Liverpool.
Earlier this month, DaveOCKOP exclusively revealed that Liverpool have now reached an agreement on personal terms with Guehi.
It remains to be seen if the Reds can strike a deal with Palace that will see the defender join Liverpool.
Elsewhere, Liverpool are in the market for a striker, and one player that features heavily in the club’s list of potential signings for the No?
9 position is French forward Hugo Ekitike.
The 23-year-old enjoyed a strong 2024/25 season in which he scored 22 goals and supplied 12 assists in 48 appearances.
He has emerged as a target for the Reds to replace Darwin Nunez, with Fabrizio Romano recently confirming that Liverpool are seriously moving him, and are working on the deal.
However, a report from French publication RMC Sport has revealed that Saudi Pro League duo Al-Hilal and Al-Qadsiah as well as Premier League side Newcastle United are also interested in Ekitike.
“After a great season with Frankfurt, Hugo Ekitike could be the German club’s biggest summer sale, with him expecting €100 million,” the report stated.
“Once rumoured to be in Chelsea’s sights, the French striker is now attracting interest from three clubs with the means to match their ambitions: England’s Newcastle and Saudi Arabia’s Al-Qadsiah and Al-Hilal.”
The report also revealed that Al-Hilal are “very keen on the former PSG player,” “have contacted his entourage” and are “preparing an offer” for him.
