Newcastle United chief Yasir Al-Rumayyan is eager to resolve the ongoing saga with Alexander Isak at St James' Park.

Despite efforts to persuade the forward to remain at Newcastle during a meeting at the Isak's home yesterday, the Swedish international remains firm in his desire to depart from the club.

Al-Rumayyan is determined to demonstrate that PIF is still serious about its intentions, regardless of whether Isak stays or leaves, and this commitment was reportedly the reason behind his decision to spend time with the staff and players on the pitch last night.

Newcastle have yet to receive a second offer for Isak or any real indication of an impending bid, leaving the club contemplating their next step, which could involve informing the star player that he may have no choice but to stay.

In his post-match press conference last night, Howe emphasised his focus on players who are 'committed' to remaining on Tyneside, just hours after Isak had met with the Newcastle chairman and director Jamie Reuben.

Al-Rumayyan made his way from the stands down the tunnel and onto the pitch at the end of the match, accompanied by a delegation from PIF who wanted to express their support for Howe and his team.

However, a financial gesture is expected to follow soon, and everyone at the club is focused on ensuring Newcastle has the right players for the first half of the season.

Club insiders have also clarified that the move to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen was intended as a replacement for Callum Wilson, not as a reaction to the potential sale of Isak.

When quizzed about Al-Rumayyan's presence in town, Howe replied last night: "I don't know why he's here in the sense of if that's the main reason.

He's here, obviously, to watch the team and support the team and show his presence, which is much-appreciated from my perspective and much-loved by everyone when he's here and connecting with the players.

"He's the owner, he's the most important person in terms of directing which decisions we make, but as I said, I'm not party to any conversations that have happened today, so I've got no idea what direction that's in."
