Newcastle United had to swiftly remove a social media post that featured the phrase "on sale now" next to an image of Alexander Isak - in what was meant to be a promotion for an upcoming pre-season match.
The blunder came at a particularly sensitive time during the transfer window, with Isak drawing attention from top clubs.
After completing his third season with Newcastle and delivering his best performance to date, Isak has been linked with Liverpool among others.
Despite the speculation, there's been no sign that Isak is keen to leave, nor do Newcastle wish to part with their talisman.
Acknowledging the faux pas, the club later took down the post and issued a revised version.
Fans were quick to point out the error, with one supporter commenting: "A picture of Isak with a big 'On sale now' sign is not the best idea.." reports the Mirror.
Isak, as Newcastle's most valuable player, would command a fee well over £100million if he were to be sold, but all signs suggest he's staying put.
With three years remaining on his contract and Champions League football on the horizon, it seems more likely than ever that the Swedish striker will remain a key figure for the Toon.

The securing of silverware this season, epitomised by Isak's decisive goal in the Carabao Cup final, affirms Newcastle's significant progress, and as long as the club's upward mobility aligns with Isak's aspirations, his tenure is expected to continue untroubled by transfer rumours.
We have to try and keep our best players and bring in more good players to make us even stronger because the ambition of the club and everyone connected with the club is long-term success and that's the only way to get that."
