Newcastle followed Liverpool in getting their Premier League campaign up and running on Saturday afternoon.
Having seen the Reds move to the top of the early table with a win over Bournemouth, the Magpies were aiming to follow them by beating Aston Villa.
Ordinarily, there would be no relevance for Liverpool fans that Newcastle were playing, unless they were against the Reds of course.
But after the Alexander Isak transfer saga has ignited debate amongst both sets of supporters, that is no longer the case.
As expected, Isak was not involved in the Newcastle matchday squad on Saturday as he continues to hold out on a move to Anfield.
Hurt by his behaviour as he tries to force a transfer away from St James’ Park, Newcastle fans have not held back in their feelings towards Isak leading up to the season.
And as they converged on Villa Park, they sent a message to the Swede loud and clear.

Predictably, Newcastle looked light up front during their 0-0 draw against Villa.
With Anthony Gordon as a makeshift centre-forward they never really looked like scoring.
Nevertheless, a point at Villa Park is not a bad result for any side, and the Toon supporters seemed happy enough at the full time whistle.

But they have one very big reason to be upset this summer, and as Gordon was interviewed by TNT Sports in front of them, they made sure to serenade Isak.

“The NUFC fans sing “There’s Only One Greedy B******” as the players leave the field following today’s opening 0-0 draw at Aston Villa,” reported journalist Keith Downie.
Though the fans did not explicitly name Isak with their chants, it was fairly clear who they were aiming their anger towards.
To make matters even spicier here, Liverpool and Newcastle play each other in their next Premier League clash, next Monday, August 25th.
The Reds have a very good record at St James’ Park, but will no doubt be wary of the reception that may await them this time.
Newcastle players are clearly itching to get at Liverpool.
Asked by TNT Sports about the fixture at the end of the Villa match, Gordon admitted he couldn’t wait to face the club he supported as a boy.
“I think with everything that’s gone on, I’m sure the atmosphere will be a bit wild.
I’m just excited to see the home fans again, get back in the stadium and it’s going to be a top game,” said the Scouser.
Newcastle will have passion on their side, but his Liverpool team have seen it all before.
