Newcastle United supporters have been unanimous in their response to the North East club’s appointment of a new chief executive.

Amid a busy summer of recruitment, the Magpies’ transfer window was largely dictated by the fact that former star striker Alexander Isak joined Liverpool on deadline day, having forced a move away from the North East.

Eddie Howe made up for Isak’s departure and the exit of Callum Wilson by signing Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wisse from German side VFB Stuttgart and Brentford, respectively.

Meanwhile, Newcastle drew 0-0 with Leeds United on Saturday, 30 August, and are still winless in the Premier League during the international break.

The North East side’s goalless draw at Elland Road came after Newcastle were beaten 3-2 by Liverpool on 25 August.

Meanwhile, once they return to Premier League action, Howe’s men host Wolves on 13 September, which they will see as a winnable fixture.

Before opting to sign Woltemade and Wissa instead, Newcastle had pursued a move for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Newcastle will hope that summer signings Jacob Ramsey, Malick Thiaw, and Anthony Elanga can help them progress in Europe as well as in the Premier League.

While Howe was busy in the summer transfer market, Newcastle made a significant announcement on Thursday, 4 September, by appointing David Hopkinson as their new chief executive.

The news means that Darren Eales is set to step down from the role, six months after the Magpies won the Carabao Cup.
