Alexander Isak has finally got his wish with a move to Liverpool - although he has undoubtedly burned his bridges with the Newcastle fans to do so.

Isak has now been confirmed as a Liverpool player, with the club announcing his arrival following the closure of the summer transfer window.

The striker was seen arriving at the AXA Training Centre for his medical on Monday after a $169 million deal was agreed with Newcastle.

The move of course comes after a long and dramatic saga that has played out for much of the summer, and has seen Isak go from a Newcastle hero to public enemy number one at St James’ Park.

Having fired the Magpies to their first domestic trophy at Wembley back in March, you might have thought it would be near-impossible for Newcastle’s fans to turn on Isak, but their relationship deteriorated to an unsalvageable level over the course of the summer.

Isak would end up training on his own and missing the Magpies’ opening three games of the new season, while also issuing a statement last month in which he claimed the “trust is lost” with his old club.

Newcastle fans didn’t take his actions well, and supporters made their feelings clear on a number of occasions, especially during the clash with Liverpool at St James’ Park last week.

Now, with Isak having completed his move to Merseyside, Newcastle fans have sent one final parting message to their former striker.

Fans were spotted setting up a banner at St James’ Park on Monday just hours before Isak’s transfer was confirmed, with the message: “Isak is a rat, Wissa is a Geordie,” written on it, referencing Yoane Wissa’s move to Newcastle which was also announced late on deadline day.

Having completed his move to Anfield, Isak will now link up with Sweden during the international break when he could feature in games against Slovenia and Kosovo.

His Liverpool debut could then follow on September 14, when the Reds travel to Burnley.

Speaking for the first time as a Liverpool player, Isak told the club’s official website: “I feel amazing.
