Newcastle United are ready to reignite their interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi and beat Liverpool to his signature, according to reports.

It's claimed that Newcastle also do not intend to bid that high but hope they can strike a deal worth around £40m near the deadline.

The Magpies attempted to sign Guehi on three occasions last summer but Palace rejected each bid, a decision that proved successful after they achieved a historic FA Cup triumph in May.

But Palace will be reluctant sellers ahead of their European campaign, whether that is in the Europa League ord Conference League.
