Newcastle United have taken a big step toward ending their transfer drought — and it might be music to Liverpool’s ears.

According to reports from Sky Sport Germany, Newcastle have reached full agreement on personal terms with AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw.

Head coach Eddie Howe even spoke about the German defender while on pre-season duty in Japan last year, saying: “He’s a very good player, but that’s it.”

Their latest bid stands at €30 million, though Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri reportedly wants to keep Thiaw at the San Siro.

Still, the Magpies remain hopeful.

With their defense in need of fresh legs — and fresh ideas — Thiaw would be a timely addition.
