Newcastle have rejected a formal offer from Liverpool for centre-forward Alexander Isak, according to the Athletic.

The Swede has been training in Spain at his former club Real Sociedad as he prepares for a potential Anfield switch.

Personal terms aren’t expected to be a problem with Sky Germany even claiming that a five-year deal is already verbally agreed.

They report:

“Liverpool had previously made an informal approach to their Premier League rivals and expressed an interest in doing a deal in the region of £120million, and the Anfield club have now seen an official bid rebuffed.”
