Alexander Isak’s transfer saga is sure to be ended in the last two days of the transfer window with Newcastle United under pressure.
The saga has been rumbling on during the entire transfer window with Isak looking for a move to Premier League champions Liverpool.
Eddie Howe has endured a tough transfer window that has seen many bumps in the road with several transfer deals falling through.
In the last week Newcastle secured the club-record signing of Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart, a move that many see as a replacement for Isak.
Newcastle have also had interest in Jorgen Strand Larsen and Yoane Wissa throughout the transfer window, with offers for both still possible.

As the transfer window deadline creeps ever closer, Newcastle will have to be clinical on their business if they’re to move Isak on and sign another forward.
Ben Jacobs appeared on talkSPORT this afternoon to discuss the latest on the Swedish international: “Everyone’s working under the impression that 150 [million] is the number but my feeling is that Liverpool know if this deal is to get done it’ll be a lot closer to 120 [million].

‘My feeling is if the deal does get done, and Liverpool are still active, it won’t be 150 [million], it won’t be 130 [million] it’ll be a lot closer to Liverpool’s first offer than people realise,” he continued.
Jacobs also added, “I think Isak thinks this move to Liverpool is going to happen, yesterday we heard some reports that it was a done deal, Liverpool sources have denied that and still intimate they haven’t had the club-to-club conversations yet, but if they do happen, it’ll move very fast.”

The club-record deal for Woltemade is an exciting one for Newcastle, given the 23-year-old’s frame and skillset, but his deal isn’t enough for the club.
Howe will want his side to compete on all four competitive fronts that they play in this season, and the club’s current depth options aren’t good enough to do that.

Woltemade would likely be the only number nine in the squad, if Isak is sold, and if he was to get injured, Newcastle would face a selection dilemma.
Anthony Gordon has been fancied as the number nine in the early stages of the season but after his red card against Liverpool, Howe was faced with the stark reality of his barren options up front, and with only five fit attacking players currently at his disposal, Howe needs more reinforcements.
