Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak has been on everyone’s lips this summer.

What begin as speculation and rumour has turned into a full-blown saga – one not seen at Anfield since perhaps the Virgil van Dijk transfer in January 2018.

On Friday, the Reds made an offer in the region of £110m.

It was dismissed by the Magpies hierarchy, and while plenty of reports claimed that another bid was not forthcoming, DaveOCKOP.com exclusively revealed that Liverpool were already in the process of putting together another bid.

Over the weekend, many have backtracked, and the general consensus is that the Reds will come back again as we at DaveOCKOP.com always maintained.

Meanwhile Newcastle United’s recruitment drive accelerated dramatically in the aftermath of Liverpool’s opening bid for Alexander Isak, with the Magpies swiftly moving to lodge an offer for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

Within hours of turning down Liverpool’s reported £110 million approach for Isak, the Magpies accelerated their pursuit of Sesko.

By triggering Leipzig’s release clause, the Magpies have signalled their readiness to move on from Isak if he really pushes for a transfer.

Liverpool were initially willing to wait for the Geordie side to secure a replacement for the Swede but grew frustrated at the lack of progress.

As a result, the initial bid was made to help get the ball rolling, and it seemed to have done just that.

The Newcastle stance on a Isak sale is softening, and their attempts in the transfer market prove that.

DaveOCKOP already reported on Friday as well that Alexander Isak is expected to formally request a move away from Newcastle if a breakthrough is not found imminently.

Liverpool are ready to pay a transfer fee that could reach £140M with add-ons?

The Reds could pay as much as £80M up front for Isak.

It would be a considerable sum for Newcastle to receive up front.

The Swedish star returned to the Newcastle training ground on Monday and is set to hold crunch talks with Eddie and the club’s hierarchy in the coming days.

As the window enters its final month, both clubs now await Sesko’s decision, which could prove pivotal in closing the chapter on one of the summer’s most high-profile sagas.
