Newcastle United are one of five sides in the race for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, sources have told Football Insider today.

The Magpies are interested in the Senegal international after seeing one of their top targets, Benjamin Sesko, join Manchester United.

Sources say that Jackson has made his desire to leave Stamford Bridge clear, after the recent incomings of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.

Eddie Howe’s side are joined by fellow Premier League side Aston Villa in the battle to sign the striker, as well as Bayern Munich, AC Milan, and Juventus.

Newcastle are in the midst of a dismal transfer window and have already missed out on two centre forwards, with Sesko and Hugo Ekitike opting for Man United and Liverpool respectively.

The Magpies could still lose Alexander Isak to Arne Slot’s side, which would heighten the need to bring in Jackson before the window closes.

The Chelsea forward would prefer a move to a club in the Premier League rather than abroad, and is expected to have a lot of offers to remain in England.

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed that Newcastle have no intention of selling Isak to Liverpool unless they can sign a top-class replacement before the window closes.

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider on 8 August that Liverpool’s pursuit of Isak has been delayed after Newcastle failed to sign Sesko.

The new Man United signing has become the latest in a long line of players who Eddie Howe’s side have missed out on this summer, adding to the frustration.
