Anthony Elanga said there is "always going to be noise" around Alexander Isak after Liverpool informed Newcastle that it was interested in signing the striker earlier this week.
Isak has established himself as one of the world's best strikers in recent years, and the Reds are big admirers of him.
Liverpool informed Newcastle of its interest in Isak earlier this week, and Elanga — who joined the Magpies earlier this month — was asked whether he had heard anything to suggest that Isak would either be staying or going.
“There’s always going to be noise around him but, at the end of the day, he’s a Newcastle United player right now," said Sweden international Elanga, who is now teammates with Isak for both club and country.
"For me, I’m just trying to focus on what he’s doing in training and speaking to him every day.

I appreciate him a lot.”
Elanga added: “Whenever I speak to Alex it’s always about good things – how my family is, how his family is and that’s the first thing (he asked me).
“I always try to focus on the present and the now and Alex being the person he is, he’s the type of player who is always staying focused.
“What he’s shown in training is second to none and I’m looking forward to continuing training with him.”
Liverpool registered its interest in Isak earlier this week
After registering its interest in Isak earlier this week, Liverpool already appears to have moved on, after striking an agreement with Hugo Ekitike over a move to Anfield.
Ekitike has given the green light to a six-year contract at Liverpool, with Newcastle now out of the running to land the Frenchman after being knocked back with an approach earlier this week; Ekitike's impending move to Merseyside all but rules out the possibility of Isak joining the Reds.
As per Sport Bild, Ekitike is prepared to push for the move to Liverpool and has taken the initiative, submitting a transfer request to the Bundesliga club.
The addition of Ekitike will push Liverpool's expenditure to well over $300 million since its Premier League title victory, but despite his £86.5 million ($115.9 million) release clause, Liverpool is hopeful of negotiating a lower price.
