Newcastle are privately adamant that they will not be bullied into selling Alexander Isak to Liverpool despite a former offer being made for the striker.
The Swedish striker became the talk of the Premier League when his name was missing from the Magpies’ pre-season squad as they jetted off to Asia.
At first, the excuse made was that Isak was suffering from a minor injury, but it has since emerged that the 25-year-old is refusing to join up with his teammates as they prepare for the 2025/26 campaign.
Instead, the Premier League’s second-highest goal-scorer last term has been staying fit at his former club Real Sociedad’s training facilities.
Isak has been a target for Liverpool for much of the summer, and David Ornstein revealed that a formal offer had been submitted for the striker.
However, The Telegraph have reported that Newcastle have made clear they will not be “bullied” into selling their star man.

As reported, neither club have released an official comment, but the bid for Isak has “clearly caused more annoyance and frustration inside Newcastle”.
The Magpies are taking the stance that they will not be “bullied” or pressured into parting ways with their star.
The bid made for Isak falls well short of Newcastle’s £150million asking price for the ex-Borussia Dortmund man.

Eddie Howe’s side are exploring replacements for the 25-year-old, but the striker market has been notoriously competitive this summer.
Benjamin Sesko is a target for Newcastle, but Man United are currently the favourites to sign the Slovenian striker.
Football Insider Verdict
Newcastle’s summer has been undermined by their inability to convince their targets to move to the North East.
Joao Pedro chose Chelsea, Bryan Mbeumo elected to join Man United, and even James Trafford who seemed a dead cert to move to St.

One of those is Rodrigo Muniz, whom Newcastle are interested in bringing in from Fulham.
The Brazilian striker is undoubtedly a top talent, but his inconsistency makes him a much less appealing option in contrast to some of the players the Magpies targeted earlier in the summer.
However, with time running out, and Isak desperate to leave, Newcastle may have to take what they can, or risk a massive backwards step at a hugely pivotal moment.
