The Magpies have finally secured the signing of a new striker.

Newcastle United have attempted all summer-long to bring in attacking reinforcements.

Securing the signing of Athony Elanga early on was a promising sign, but little followed that, and they have been scrambling to find a new striker before the transfer window slam shut on Monday.

They have now done that, as they have officially confirmed the signing of Nick Woltemade from Vfb Stuttgart on a club-record deal worth up to £69million.

Seen as the new face of Eddie Howe’s project, the door is now burst wide open for a potential move of Alexander Isak this summer.

Woltemade boasts impressive stats during his time in Germany, playing 102 times as a centre-forward, scoring 57 goals and registering 12 assists.

After missing out on numerous targets this summer, the Magpies will be happy they have finally got a player who is showing real potential at only 23-year-old and is a real goal scorer.

Liverpool have of course been in the hunt for him all summer, as he is viewed as the perfect addition to the squad as they look to retain the Premier League title.

Alexander Isak is up there with the best strikers in the world and it has been understandable learning of Newcastle United’s unwillingness to let a man of such talent depart the club, especially as he is forcing the move.

However, the signing of Woltemade has made it clear that an opportunity could’ve arrived for Liverpool, and a second bid is now expected to arrive soon that will finally seal the deal of the summer.
