Reports are suggesting that Newcastle United have pushed a sensational deal for Stuttgart forward Nick Woltemade over the line.

The 23-year-old is one of Germany’s hottest striker prospects, and had interest from German champions Bayern Munich this summer.

Newcastle were interested in Woltemade as a contingency to Benjamin Sesko and have finally got the deal over the line.

The move may allow the long saga involving Alexander Isak to end, as the young German will no doubt be seen as a replacement for the Swede.

As the Stuttgart forward prepares to travel to Newcastle for his medical, Eddie Howe’s side will be looking at how they can further finance moves for another striker.

Sky Sports have now revealed the details of the deal that is in place to prize Woltemade from Stuttgart, stating that Newcastle paid a fee of £64 million for the German, a club record total.

Sky’s report said: “Newcastle have signed Woltemade ahead of Bayern Munich who had multiple offers rejected for the forward this summer.

The player had a desire to work with Howe and play in the Premier League.”

The fee is £60m up front with £4m in add-ons, and Fabrizio Romano has further suggested that the German will sign a “long-term deal” with the Tyneside club.

With depth in the forward areas lacking for Eddie Howe, it is believed that the Magpies will push for a move for another forward before the transfer window closes, and Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen is one name Newcastle are interested in.

Woltemade brings a lot of size with his six foot and six inch frame, but he also brings a surprising level of technical ability too similarly to another Bundesliga export to the Premier League this summer, Benjamin Sesko.

Both have an astonishing radius in which they receive the ball and both a well adept with the ball at their feet, but what separates the two is Woltemade’s link up play.

The Germany under-21 international often drops deep to link build up play, where as Sesko is more of a traditional number nine.

Having scored 12 goals in the Bundesliga last season Woltemade gets a deserved move to a Champions League club, but he will need to find more consistency with shooting, and prove that his expected goals over-performance last season wasn’t a flash in the pan.
