Rangers supporters may finally have to bid farewell to midfield star Nico Raskin before the summer transfer window slams shut.

Football Insider understands that Rangers are bracing for offers for Raskin, with multiple Premier League clubs keeping tabs on the 24-year-old’s situation at Ibrox.

The Belgian put a series of long-term injuries behind him last season, notching five goals and 11 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions, helping the Light Blues to the Europa League quarter-finals.

Raskin’s performances did not go unnoticed under Philippe Clement and Barry Ferguson, earning his international debut with Rudi Garcia’s Belgium, but he has taken a backwards step this season.

Russell Martin, who is facing early pressure at Rangers, has been almost too honest with his disappointment about the team in the media, but some fans have seen it as a breath of fresh air.

Despite adding multiple new faces to the squad, there has been little improvement on the pitch, being knocked out of Champions League qualifiers on a disastrous 9-1 aggregate scoreline.

Supporters never really believed that the Gers could recover from their 3-1 first-leg defeat, but when the teamsheets were announced, and Raskin was benched once again, eyebrows were raised, understandably.

He replaced Joe Rothwell at half-time, but with Max Aarons sent off and Club Brugge already up by five goals on the night, there was nothing the midfielder could do to change the game.

In retaliation, Raskin’s father has spoken out about the situation, and did not hold back when speaking about the under-pressure manager’s decisions during his very short tenure so far.

In a Facebook post, transcribed by the Glasgow Times (28 August), Thierry Raskin wrote: “A coach who leaves out eight players from a team that reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League last season, a coach who transfers eight players (and puts them in the team) that he knows very well (this kind of thing still exists!) but guys who come out of nowhere.

“The guy has an oversized ego, and that’s an understatement, thinks he can go and play a match for the Champions League.

Incredible, this football world is.”

Raskin’s father has clearly not held back, and that would suggest that very little behind the scenes is unfolding well, and that the talented midfielder may have already played his final minute in a Rangers shirt.

Martin has been indicating further exits for multiple of the current players, and with the baffling decision to drop one of his biggest talents still confusing fans now, it might be the end of an era for Raskin.
