Nicolas Jackson reacts to post from Chelsea's official account after he's axed

Sun 24 August 2025 18:33, UK

Nicolas Jackson has reacted to a post by the official Chelsea account after news that Aston Villa are leading the race for his signature.

Football Insider has revealed that Villa are in pole position to land Jackson, who is currently out-of-favour under Enzo Maresca.

The Senegal international has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, following the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.

Jackson has a close relationship with Villa manager Unai Emery following their time together at Villarreal, which could give the Midlands giants an advantage in the race for the striker.

With Jackson missing from the squad, Chelsea ran out 5-1 winners away against West Ham on Friday (22 August), putting in a scintillating performance at the London Stadium.

Lucas Paqueta put the hosts ahead early on, but goals from Joao Pedro, Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez gave the West London side a 3-1 lead at the break.

Moises Caicedo and Trevoh Chalobah stretched the gap further in the second half, to confirm a comfortable three points for the Blues.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are struggling to attract buyers for Raheem Sterling before the transfer deadline as a result of his “huge” weekly wage at Stamford Bridge, sources have told Football Insider.

Sterling is earning around £300,000 per week at Chelsea, putting off any potential suitors who would be unable to match his lofty demands.

This comes after former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider in July that Chelsea want to sell Sterling to cut their wage bill.

The winger has no place in Maresca’s plans for the future and is unlikely to feature for the Blues this season, increasing their desire to cash in.
