Kovac has now responded to the speculation linking him with the job at Anfield while appearing on 'Sport and Talk in Hangar 7' for ServusTV.
The former Wolfsburg manager has dismissed the reports suggesting that he could be the next Liverpool boss.
“There’s always a lot written about it, but there’s nothing to it," said Kovac, via Sportkrone.
Kovac has been out of work since leaving Wolfsburg earlier this season.
He has also taken charge of Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt and Monaco earlier in his career, and is currently waiting for his return to management.
Alonso was listed as the early favourite to be the next Liverpool manager earlier this year but has since confirmed he will be staying at Bayer Leverkusen beyond this summer.
Now it seems that reports are linking Amorim as the favourite for the summer vacancy, having impressed in his four years in charge at Sporting Lisbon.
