As the 2024-25 Premier League season nears its conclusion, Liverpool sit comfortably clear at the league summit, twelve points to be exact.
Arne Slot has excelled throughout his debut campaign of succeeding Jürgen Klopp at Anfield, and is set to become the first Dutch manager to experience a title-lift in England, whilst fellow countryman, Virgil van Dijk, will be the first to captain a side to the holy grail.
Liverpool supporters will get the opportunity to witness their team hope to take control of their destiny this Sunday, knowing a win or draw against Tottenham Hotspur will confirm a twentieth league title on Merseyside.
Despite whichever narratives are floating around, the Reds have been by-far-and-away the best the Premier League has had to offer this season, and we will be giving five reasons why they deserve to be where they are.
CONSISTENCY
Liverpool have been a cut-above from the rest of their Premier League title contenders.
Arne Slot has taken to English football like a duck to water, having there been major doubt over the club’s future post-Jurgen Klopp.
At the start of the season, Liverpool were not even mentioned in the league-title picture, with numerous footballing figures expecting a decline after nine successful years with the German.
Throughout pre-season, predictions were made and pundits and fans-alike, had the Reds finishing outside of the top-four, let alone in a title-race.
But, Slot and co.
have silenced those across the course of the campaign, making their inevitable triumph, look very easy.
Despite Manchester City experiencing an off-season and Arsenal’s failure to challenge Liverpool, they have still had to perform all-season long, whilst rival disappointments should not be used as an excuse to rain on the Reds’ parade.

Arne Slot’s tactical takes have also become instrumental to Liverpool’s inevitable league triumph.
The Dutchman inherited Klopp’s squad that revolved around gegenpressing and high intensity that relied on interchanging movement across the forward line and overlapping full-backs, but whilst retaining the core, has added his own Dutch flair to the mix.
Slot has introduced a more controlled, zonal pressing style that is less exhausting and more calculated.
Alongside this, his tactical flexibilty, smart squad rotation and positional fluidity has provided the necessary balance for his Liverpool team to thrive this season.
THE MIDFIELD REBUILD
Despite departing the club at the end of last season, Jürgen Klopp made sure he laid a solid foundation for his successor to build on.
The German’s overhaul of the midfield in the summer of 2023 is not talked of enough.
Klopp let go of some key names including Thiago Alcantara, Fabinho and former skipper, Jordan Henderson that year and they were replaced with four midfielders who have become important figures for Arne Slot.

Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo.
Their contributions have become clutch in the Reds being title-bound this season with three forming Slot’s preferred midfield.
In just two years, Klopp’s mini rebuild has propelled his former side to within touching distance of the Premier League.
STRONG ON THE ROAD
Liverpool are well-known to have a very strong home record, but their away record is what has stood out this season.
The Reds have tallied an amount of thirty-eight points away from Anfield, whilst scoring more goals and losing only one.
This defeat arrived at the hands of Fulham just three weeks ago, bringing their seventeen-match unbeaten run on the road to an end – stretching back to 24th April 2024, a 2-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park.
Although since the defeat to the Cottagers, Liverpool have returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory at the King Power over a now-relegated Leicester City.
Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge and Brighton’s AMEX Stadium are the remaining away trips this term and if Liverpool remain unbeaten in both, then they will match their record of only one away defeat, which also occurred during their title-winning campaign of 2019-20 – a shock 3-0 defeat at Watford in February 2020.

Are there even enough words to describe Mohamed Salah’s individual season, this year?!
The Egyptian has torn Premier League defences to shreds, breaking record-upon-record whilst doing so.
As we’re approaching the final month of the season, Salah has racked up an incredible forty-five league goal contributions, the most-ever in a single thirty-eight game campaign and still has the chance to break Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne’s assist record of twenty.
Only five matches remain, and Liverpool’s talisman needs just three more assists to become the all-time holder.
Although, Salah is experiencing a rare drought without a goal contribution in three of his last four Premier League games but will hope to bounce back into form this weekend, for the visit of Spurs.
A large chunk of the Reds’ goals have been provided by Mo Salah and without, Liverpool would struggle to maintain a top-four charge, never mind having ambitions of a title-charge.
The Egyptian recently committed his future to Anfield until 2027, meaning the rest of the Premier League will have to endure his individual brilliance for a further two years.
Despite relentless media scrutiny and rival fans eager to diminish their success, Liverpool have defied the noise to stand on the brink of Premier League glory.
Teams don’t just win the Premier League with ‘luck’ and their achievements speak louder than the doubters ever could.
