'No chance!’ - Ally McCoist’s hilarious response to Martin Keown’s comments regarding who Jurgen Klopp could manage next

It has been just over a year since Arne Slot took over at Liverpool and what a revelation he has been.

After Jurgen Klopp passed the baton over to Slot, the Dutchman had an incredibly hard act to follow.

Not only did he take it on in his stride, but he exceeded expectations while doing so, guiding Liverpool to their 20th league title.

Slot now has an even trickier task keeping the Reds at the top and regularly competing for a Premier League title, something Klopp managed despite only finishing top of the division once.

The German has been without a managerial job since and, although in no rush, has been linked with many vacancies, but Martin Keown’s suggestion might just be the most absurd one yet.

Loyalty is a trait Klopp prides himself on and it was a key theme throughout his time at Liverpool, perhaps a reason why he was so loved.

And, despite saying that he would never manage in England again, ex Arsenal captain Keown said on talkSPORT that Klopp should manage Manchester United, a statement Ally McCoist responded to hilariously.

“Could he do a good job at Manchester United, the answer is yes.

No, because there is no chance, he’d never go!” McCoist said while laughing.

“I’m confident he has already said that he won’t manage anywhere else in England, which I get due to the respect he’s got for the job he did at Liverpool, so if he said that, the very last place on earth that he would go is Manchester United!

This suggestion was so far-fetched that host Jeff Stelling even asked listeners to call in and reveal the ‘daftest takes’ they have ever heard on the show, telling you all you need to know.

Despite not taking up a managerial role at a club, Klopp landed a job pretty soon after leaving Liverpool, joining Red Bull as the Head of Global Soccer.

Within this role, he oversees all the clubs Red Bull owns, offering advice to sporting directors, scouts and even the coaches.

Klopp was also present at Liverpool’s trophy parade on May 26th, the first time he has been back in the city for over a year.

He has been loosely linked to the Real Madrid and AS Roma jobs in the past, something Klopp himself was quick to rubbish, suggesting that we may not see him in a dugout anytime soon.

If he is to make a comeback, however, the chances of it being at Manchester United are incredibly slim, if not zero, meaning Liverpool fans have absolutely nothing to worry about.
