Aston Villa supporters have already moved on from Jacob Ramsey as the star midfielder closes in on a move to Newcastle United.

According to Fabrizio Romano on X (13 August), the 24-year-old is set to complete his move to St James’ Park today, with a full agreement imminent in a £40million deal with Eddie Howe‘s side.

Mick Brown told Football Insider that it was becoming increasingly likely that Ramsey would remain at Aston Villa beyond the summer, but the Magpies look to have accelerated a move for the wide player.

Since graduating from the academy, the young talent has gone on to make a total of 169 first-team appearances for the Villans, notching 17 goals and 17 assists, also becoming a fan favourite at Villa Park.

However, with several injury problems plaguing his career and delaying his development, some have become frustrated by his lack of minutes on the pitch and are now ready to cash in.

If Unai Emery is to lose one of his key attackers, though, recording nine goal contributions when he was fit enough last season, the Spaniard will need a replacement for the 2025/26 campaign.

Football Insider understands that Emery’s transfer budget at Aston Villa stands at £50m, yet Evann Guessand has been the only big-money arrival at Villa Park so far.

John Percy broke the news via X on Tuesday, 12 August, that Villa were exploring a move to bring Marco Asensio back to the club, and Sacha Tavolieri has reported that a bid is to be submitted imminently.

While many supporters are still upset about the idea of homegrown talent Ramsey leaving this summer, the idea of re-signing the PSG star has got fans sitting up in their chairs once again.

The 29-year-old made an instant impact at Villa Park last season, notching eight goals and one assist in 21 games, including braces against Chelsea, Cardiff City, and Club Brugge across different competitions.

It has become clear that PSG are unlikely to need his services next term, and with Ramsey off to St James’ Park, one supporter said that Asensio as his replacement would be a “no-brainer” decision.

A second fan cited Ramsey’s injury record as their main reason for the swap in players, while another said Asensio is on “another level” following his initial six months in the Midlands.
