Nicolas Jackson’s future has finally been decided after Chelsea’s prolonged back-and-forth talks with Bayern Munich.
Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea side has undergone another transformational period this summer with 11 new players signed, 16 permanent sales and over £600million in fees changing hands at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea sold Noni Madueke to Arsenal for £48.5m in July after the earlier additions of Estevao and Jamie Gittens, and have used that to strengthen even more out wide with Alejandro Garnacho‘s £40m signing.
Liam Delap and Joao Pedro’s respective moves to West London saw Jackson relegated to third-choice in Maresca‘s setup, and this sparked talks with Bayern Munich which have taken plenty of twists and turns.

Jackson looked set to complete his move to Bayern Munich well before the transfer deadline, but Delap’s injury early in Chelsea’s win over Fulham on Saturday threw their plans regarding Jackson into chaos.
In Munich at the time of Delap‘s injury, Jackson’s agent stated that “we’re not going back” in response to Chelsea’s plans for the Senegal forward to return to London, and a compromise has finally been struck.
Rather than cancel the loan and £14.3million fee they’re set to receive from Bayern, Chelsea instead recalled Marc Guiu from his own loan at Sunderland, clearing the path for Jackson to complete his move.

Madueke was one of several of Jackson’s former team-mates to leave comments of support, saying: “You deserve it my brother”.

Football Insider Verdict
Jackson’s time at Stamford Bridge has certainly been a rollercoaster, with as many missed chances and controversial moments as he had managed goals and assists as Chelsea’s only out-and-out striker.
The Club World Cup proved to be the final straw for Maresca after Jackson’s red card within minutes of coming on against Flamengo, which came after Delap had already usurped him in the Blues’ starting XI.
Joao Pedro‘s own impact at that tournament and so far this season makes the number nine spot his to lose after Delap’s injury, as Jackson vies to claim a similar position ahead of England captain Harry Kane in the Bundesliga.
