Sunderland host League One side Huddersfield Town in the second round of the Carabao Cup, as they look to bounce back from their 2-0 loss to Burnley on the weekend.

Regis Le Bris’ side were brought back down to earth after their tremendous 3-0 victory over West Ham United on the opening day of the season, with the away loss at Burnley.

In midfield, Enzo Le Fee and Dan Neil are both yet to start a game so far this season and may be in line for a start as could Patrick Roberts, as Sunderland will surely look to opt for attacking options.

The forward line may also see a reshuffle with Marc Guiu and Wilson Isidor both yet to appear from the off this season, as Le Bris may want to assess his attacking options moving forward.

However, Saturday’s defeat at the hands of fellow promoted side Burnley dealt Sunderland their first defeat of the season.

It will no doubt be a result that stings those close to the club but it may be an important early season reality check for the club, who are adjusting to life back in the Premier League.

Burnley, who have been tipped for relegation by many, finished 24 points ahead of Sunderland in the Championship last season, and despite hefty summer investment that gap, as well as the ever-growing gap between the Premier League and the Championship is a big one to bridge.
