Northern Ireland’s rising star Conor Bradley signs fresh deal with Liverpool: ‘I’m very proud and happy’

The Reds announced today that the 21-year-old from Tyrone has put pen to paper on a long term deal extending his near six year association with the club.

Bradley joined the Anfield side in 2019 from Dungannon and has made a positive impact since coming through the ranks to become a regular in the first team squad first under Jurgen Klopp and now Arne Slot winning the Carabao Cup last season with the Merseyside club and the Premier League this term.

“To sign another contract, I’m very proud and happy to see what the next steps on our journey together will be,” Bradley told Liverpoolfc.com.

“You’ve just got to keep your head down and keep working hard.

“It has been a fantastic two years (with the senior team).

So, hopefully we can keep going and keep making more memories.”

Talking about his targets for the future, Bradley stated: “To play even more games but also to win more trophies.

“I think the whole point of playing football is obviously to win trophies and be successful.

“So the more of them we can win, the better it will be for me and the whole team.

Hopefully if we can keep doing that, it’ll be a good next few years at the club.”

Bradley signed his first pro contract in the summer of 2020 and the following year made his Reds debut in a League Cup tie at Norwich becoming the first Northern Ireland player to feature in a competitive fixture for the club since Sammy Smyth in 1954.

Bradley made five appearances for Liverpool during the 2021-22 season prior to joining Bolton on loan the next season when he starred for the League One outfit winning the Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards and claiming the EFL Trophy at Wembley with Wanderers.

On his return to Liverpool for the 2023/2024 campaign he established himself within the senior ranks making 23 appearances across all competitions and netting his first goal for the club in a man of the match display against Chelsea in the Premier League in January 2024.

This season he has played 27 times for Slot’s side title winning team and is expected to start in the final two league games – away to Brighton on Monday and at home to Crystal Palace next weekend when Liverpool will be presented with the Premier League trophy at Anfield.

A memorable moment in the campaign was his crunching tackle on Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe during a victory over the Spanish giants in the Champions League when the Anfield crowd roared their approval.

With England star Trent Alexander Arnold leaving for Real Madrid in the summer, Bradley has a chance to nail down the right back slot though he will face competition from Dutchman Jeremie Frimpong who is set to sign for the Anfield side from Bayer Leverkusen for £29.5million.

While he has become a key player for Liverpool, Bradley, who made his international debut as a teenager in 2021, is the figurehead of Michael O’Neill’s young Northern Ireland side and an inspiration for team-mates and fans alike.
