In the 2-2 draw against Fulham on Saturday, Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara was subbed off after 50 minutes following a hamstring issue.

• Romano: Liverpool set to offer this star a new contract after Diogo Jota deal Thiago has been the club’s creative force, dictating the team’s tempo from midfield.

Klopp would obviously want to believe that the midfield options he has at his disposal now should be enough, but it is not easy to gauge what might happen in the future, with Liverpool’s injury list increasing.

Following Thiago’s injury, Liverpool’s only fit midfielders are Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliot.

Along with Thiago, the injured midfielders list includes Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the latter, who is out for a prolonged period of time following an injury in the preseason.

With the recovery time for Thiago yet to be measured, Klopp has a task at hand to see whether his other options are good enough, or he needs to look at the transfer window.

The 31-year-old Spaniard has been a creative spark in Liverpool’s midfield since his signing in 2020.
