Nottingham Forest and Everton’s transfer plans to add to their midfield have been hit by new revelations.

Everton have had a difficult transfer window and currently have a thin squad ahead of their first season at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

However, Forest were able to keep Gibbs-White away from Spurs and are now targeting new additions after a successful seventh placed Premier League finish last season.

Luiz has been at Juventus for only one season.

Luiz has Premier League experience with Aston Villa and would have been an excellent addition to Everton’s midfield.

The 27-year-old has an eye for goal from the middle of the park, something Everton should be looking for with their lack of natural goal scorers.

The arrival of Jack Grealish would add quality in the forward areas, though his wage demands look like they may be a significant hurdle that Everton may not be able to afford.

An opening weekend trip to Leeds will be a tough first test for Everton and be an early indicator of how their season might pan out if they can’t get signings across the line.
