'Nottingham Forest are targeting 2 more signings after Omari Hutchinson deal'

Sun 24 August 2025 9:00, UK

Nottingham Forest will likely sign two more players before the transfer window closes on 1 September.

That is the verdict of football finance expert Dan Plumley, who told Football Insider exclusively that he doesn’t expect the Tricky Trees side to “go crazy”, but wouldn’t rule it out completely.

Nottingham Forest seems to be imploding with the 2025/26 Premier League campaign still in its infancy.

Nuno Espirito Santo voiced his displeasure with the club’s transfer business, to which the Tricky Trees responded by signing Arnaud Kalimuendo from Rennes, bringing in James McAtee from Man City, and swooping for Ipswich Town’s Omari Hutchinson.

However, the issues seem to run deeper, with The Athletic reporting that the Portuguese boss has little to no working relationship with the global head of football, Edu.

How the debacle will play it is anyone’s guess, but having spent significantly to satisfy Santo once, it would be no surprise to see Forest continue to spend in a bid to keep their talented manager happy.

Speaking to Football Insider exclusively, Plumley explained that despite spending £150million [transfermarkt] so far this summer, more signings are likely at the City Ground.

However, the finance expert explained that there was “a limit” on how much they could spend, and does not expect the total spend to come close to doubling their initial outlay.

Plumley said: “I still think there is a limit with Forest, or there should be, if we’re being cautious.

“Don’t expect them to go and spend double that [£150m spent so far this summer].

“I expect maybe one or two more to come in.

“I think I expect one or two more to come in.

I don’t expect them to go crazy, but then again, they did that a couple of years ago, so never say never.”

Amidst the chaos at the City Ground, the Tricky Trees continue to search for right-back targets to provide cover and competition for Ola Aina.

Instead, Nottingham Forest will rival Everton to sign Kellen Fisher, Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider exclusively.

The young right-back was named Norwich City’s Young Player of the Year last season, appearing 38 times in the Championship for the Canaries.
