Nottingham Forest may now have a clear shot at Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz following the latest Everton update.
Luiz has struggled since joining Juventus from Aston Villa last summer, starting just three Serie A matches and making only 27 appearances across all competitions so far.
The Brazil international is without a single goal or assist during that time and is keen to leave Turin.
But that said, his exploits in the Premier League with Villa remain fresh in the memory.
Luiz faced disciplinary action recently for failing to arrive for pre-season training, which effectively sealed his fate with Juventus.

Despite his struggles in Italy, Luiz is a man in demand, with several Premier League clubs linked with his services — including Manchester United, West Ham, Everton and, most recently, Nottingham Forest.
The latter are understood to be exploring a loan move for Luiz in a deal that could then see them move Ibrahim Sangare away from the City Ground.

Now, Forest’s chances of landing Luiz have received a serious boost, with Everton seemingly dropping out of the race.
According to Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke, Juventus’ £40million asking price for a permanent transfer is proving too steep for Everton.
What’s more, the Toffees now look set to conclude a permanent deal for Chelsea’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, offering David Moyes a serious boost to his midfield ranks and likely meaning Luiz would no longer be required on Merseyside.

Luiz could prove an excellent option at the base of Nuno Espirito Santo’s midfield as Forest prepare for a European campaign.
But the Tricky Trees are also looking for options further forward to help boost their creative output.
Despite agreeing a new contract with Morgan Gibbs-White, Forest are also pushing to sign James McAtee from Manchester City.
The 22-year-old notched seven goals in 27 appearances for City last season, despite starting just nine games and clocking only 343 minutes of Premier League action.

It’s understood Man City are willing to accept a £35m offer from Forest for McAtee, who could prove a quality eventual replacement for Gibbs-White if interest in the England international re-ignites next summer.
Forest fans will hope any new signings can make a quick impact, with their pre-season form not exactly inspiring confidence.
The Tricky Trees face Fiorentina on Tuesday, but head into that match off the back of goalless draws against Chesterfield, Monaco and Estoril, as well as defeats to Fulham (3-1) and Birmingham City (1-0) — with just one goal from five games so far.
