Nottingham Forest are considering a summer move for Liverpool youngster following the exit of Anthony Elanga
Elanga has moved to Newcastle United in a deal worth £55m.
Forest were keen to keep the 23-year-old Sweden international, but he has opted to join the Magpies on a long-term deal.
Elanga netted six times and registered 11 assists for Nuno Espirito Santo’s Forest last season.
He told Newcastle’s official website:”I’m ready to put on this black and white top to really fight for this team and give everything for the passionate fanbase that lives and breathes football.
“I had an amazing two years at Nottingham Forest, they really helped me to become the player I am today, but I’m really happy to be here now.
“The club won a trophy last season and are building something unique, something special that I really want to be part of.
“I really want to buy into the culture, into the DNA of this club.
I’m really happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started.”
Forest are now in the market to sign his replacement.
According to the Daily Express, Forest have registered their interest in Liverpool’s Ben Doak.
The report claims that the Premier League club are one of the latest teams to throw their hat into the ring after banking the cash from Elanga’s big-money sale.
PSV Eindhoven are said to be another club keen on Doak, who also has admirers in Spain.
Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Everton all made enquiries about Doak earlier this summer, while Brentford retain a long-standing interest in the 19-year-old.
Doak would be open to leaving Liverpool this summer after enjoying his first taste of regular football with Middlesbrough last season.
He scored three goals and provided seven assists in the Championship.
Doak joined Liverpool from Celtic in 2022 after making his senior debut for the Scottish champions at the age of 16.
He has racked up 10 appearances for the Reds across all competitions.
The Scotland international featured and provided an assist for Liverpool on Sunday in their pre-season friendly win over Preston North End.
