Jurgen Klopp'sLiverpoolside have certainly hit the 2023/24 Premier League campaign in a rich vain of form, and following on from their opening day draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, they have now registered five straight victories and they have also secured their first European win of the year as well.

Sitting just two points behind Pep Guardiola's Manchester City side with a tally of 16, their latest three points came on Sunday as they hosted West Ham United at Anfield, and took a largely comfortable 3-1 victory on the day.

It also extended their unbeaten run to the last 18 matches, thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota.

Given the season it looks like Liverpool might have, for those who like a flutter unbiased reviews of betting platforms might help them make some decisions on that front in the remaining months of the campaign.

For many fans though, Nunez's improvement compared to his performances last year was probably the stand out from the game, as the 24 year old did miss an absolute sitter again, but his running, work rate and desire seriously shows that he now understands the Premier League, and after seven games this season, he has already chipped in with four goals, which is a far better return to last season.

It certainly caught the eye of former Newcastle United and Republic of Ireland international, Shay Given, as he now thinks he has stopped over thinking his misses, and is simply doubling down and backing himself to bury the next chance.

"When I watched them beat Newcastle with 10 men last month, Liverpool got a bit lucky, I suppose, but Darwin Nunez did brilliantly to win the game for them - and he scored another big goal against West Ham to put Liverpool 2-1 up.

Nunez was very hit and miss with his finishing last season, but I love the fact he doesn't let it faze him if he fails to put away a big chance."

Given went on to point to the second half of West Ham, and not the wide shot from the centre of the penalty box, but the effort that skimmed the post from close range, however, seven minutes later he was on the scoresheet with the sublime finish set up by Alexis Mac Allister's chip.

"Having that mental toughness is such a big positive for any striker and the more goals he scores, the more relaxed Nunez is going to be in front of goal.

I said before the season started that I was expecting Liverpool to make a serious comeback at the top of the table after they finished outside the top four last time out, and I think Nunez is going to play a big part in that."

Since the start of last season, Given points out that the stats show he has also hit the woodwork in the Premier League eight times, more than any other player, that is how tight the margins are on what his goal tally could already actually be, but when he gets to that point, Liverpool could really have a player on their hands.
