Man United are unlikely to receive offers for Andre Onana in the closing stages of the transfer window due to his lofty asking price.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about the 29-year-old’s future amid calls for him to be replaced at Old Trafford.

United paid £47.2million to bring the Cameroon international to the Premier League in 2023, and would be looking for a similar fee to let him leave this summer.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in April that Man United want £50million for Onana, but will accept bids close to their £47.5million outlay.

However, those demands have minimised interest in his signature while the goalkeeper is also not believed to be rushing to leave the club.

Brown told Football Insider in 26 June that Man United planned to sell Onana to clear space for his replacement, but no major interest has emerged.

Brown told Football Insider on 4 August that Man United want to sign a new goalkeeper before the transfer window closes as they aim to upgrade their options.

The Red Devils are now believed to be closing in on a deal to sign Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens, but it is unlikely to impact Onana’s future.

O’Rourke explained that it would be a “surprise” to see the goalkeeper leave the club this summer as they are unwilling to take a hit on the money spent on him.

“I would be surprised if something did come up now for Onana to leave,” he told Football Insider.

“A lot of people have been crying out for them to sign a new goalkeeper.

“Gary Neville was pretty strong on it, suggesting that United need to bring in a new keeper.

Ruben Amorim is unlikely to cash in on Andre Onana.

I don’t think he’ll be rushing out the door unless it’s a real big offer for him.

“United were looking to recoup a lot of the 47 million pounds that they did spend on him.

“I think it’s a difficult deal to see United selling Onana so late unless there is a big offer because they’ll be taking a massive hit if they are to sell him now.

“As things stand, there’s no real offers on the table for Onana or as much interest as maybe United were hoping as well.”

Alongside their pursuit of a new goalkeeper, United are also aiming to add new midfielders to their squad before the transfer window closes.

Football Insider revealed on 22 August that Man United want to sign Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace after missing out on a deal for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba.

Palace are expected to deliver the same £100million response at their rivals, as United’s pursuit of a central midfielder enters the final days of the window.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 18 August that Crystal Palace are confident of keeping Wharton alongside the likes of Jean-Philippe Mateta.
