Nottingham Forest collapsed to a poor 3-0 defeat after conceding three late goals to West Ham United at the City Ground.

Goals from Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta, and Callum Wilson, all after the 80th minute, gave Graham Potter’s side their first win of the season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side looked toothless in attack, struggling to break through West Ham’s resolute defensive performance.

It was a dismal way to end a promising start to the season for Forest who will now face an inquest across the international break as to what happened in the late defeat.

Matz Sels

Matz Sels had an imperious game despite conceding three, only one of which he may have been able to do better with.

The Belgian pulled off two great reflex saves to keep Forest on parity at 0-0 and pulled off a further fine one-on-one stop late on to keep West Ham’s tally at three.

Murillo

Murillo became a victim of a game that was largely stretched late on, but for the first 80 minutes the Brazilian showed his top class skillset, mopping up well defensively and having a keen eye for an incisive pass down the left flank.

It was a tough game for Murillo late on who did look vulnerable as Crysencio Summerville looked to get behind Forest’s defence, and that may be something to look out for as the season goes on.

Ibrahim Sangare

Ibrahim Sangare, like Murillo, fell victim to the chaos of the later game state, seeing a midfield that was congested all of a sudden become stretched.

Sangare was a rock defending every set piece into the Forest box, and he had the midfield battle largely under his control throughout, but it was the Ivorian’s clumsy late challenge that gave West Ham the penalty that gave West Ham a two goal advantage.

Ola Aina

Ola Aina had a quiet game offensively, rarely impacting the game high up the field, unlike the performances that we’ve seen from the Nigerian in the past.

The ex-Chelsea man had a torrid time in the right channel when Summerville came on and all three goals came from play that began in his defensive area of the pitch.

Dan Ndoye

It was a quiet game from Dan Ndoye who failed to impact the game at all on the right hand side of Forest’s front three.

The Swiss international was quiet during the hour he was on the pitch and the summer signing was taken off midway through the second half.

Chris Wood

Like Ndoye, Chris Wood was kept at bay by West Ham’s stoic defensive display and the New Zealander’s quiet afternoon was ended with 15 minutes to go.

Wood barely had a sniff in the Hammers’ box and he was unusually quiet even when the ball did break free in the visitor’s defensive third.
