According to ex-Everton and Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness, Chelsea could be in line for a significant breach.

He told the Inside Track podcast: "I don’t think the Premier League have left themselves anywhere else to go but a serious points deduction.

"I think Chelsea could have had the biggest breach so far unless there is some very clever engineering done in the transfer market, but I think it will be very hard to do.”

Of course, Chelsea has avoided a fine so far, with sales and amortization over long contracts keeping it the right side of the rules.

And that could lead Liverpool to consider reigniting its interest in defender Levi Colwill, reports The Express.

The Reds considered a move for England international Colwill last summer after he had impressed on loan at Brighton, according to The Standard.

Colwill ultimately stayed at Stamford Bridge and signed a new deal and he has been a regular under Mauricio Pochettino this season.

Colwill is naturally left-sided and has the ability to play centrally or at full-back, which is likely to appeal to Liverpool and its next manager, particularly if it is Xabi Alonso.

But while there may be concerns over how he would adapt to the Premier League, Colwill would slot into that system seamlessly.

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also thought to be admirers of the England ace, who is currently out injured.

Despite the FFP concerns, Chelsea is still likely to expect a significant fee of around $63m (£50m/€58m) this summer.

Liverpool.com says: A central defender is likely to be on the wishlist of Liverpool's next manager, with Joël Matip out of contract this summer.
