Bailly was missing against Liverpool (Picture: Getty)
Eric Bailly was a notable absentee from Manchester United’s FA Cup win over Liverpool on Sunday but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expects to be able to call on him in midweek.
Bailly didn’t even make the bench for the 3-2 victory at Old Trafford, with Solskjaer unwilling to take a risk over his fitness.
Victor Lindelof started alongside Harry Maguire at the heart of the United defence, with Axel Tuanzebe providing cover for the centre-back role on the bench, and Solskjaer was satisfied with his options.
Bailly had a small knock that his manager was not concerned about and he expects him to be in contention for Wednesday’s Premier League meeting with rock-bottom Sheffield United.
‘Eric will be available [to face Sheffield United],’ Solskjaer said after the win over Liverpool.

‘We had cover on the bench and Victor was ready so there was no point on taking a risk with Eric.
‘He’s fine, there’s no problem. I can’t say if he’s playing or not, but he’s fit and available for selection for Wednesday.’
