Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was spotted by the Sky Sports cameras watching Ipswich Town take on Sheffield United on Friday.

Thanks to the Blades’ poor start to the Championship campaign, Sheffield United boss Ruben Selles is under pressure.

The South Yorkshire club lost all four of their second-tier games before heading to Portman Road on 12 September.

Despite their poor start to the Championship season, Sheffield United retained star man Gustavo Hamer amid transfer interest from Leeds United.

However, Selles left the 28-year-old out of his starting 11 at Portman Road on 12 September.

The 52-year-old is currently out of work, having been recently dismissed by Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas, and could emerge as a candidate replace Selles in the Bramall Lane dugout.

Solskjaer attended the match due to his friendship with Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna, who he worked with at Old Trafford.

Selles has failed to impress in South Yorkshire since Chris Wilder was sacked by Sheffield United, who currently appear unlikely to launch another promotion push.

Under Wilder last term, the Blades won 92 points, with two deducted, and were beaten by Sunderland in the Championship playoff final.

However, since Selles took charge, the Bramall Lane outfit have looked poor, ever since their 4-1 defeat to Bristol City on the opening weekend.

Meanwhile, even though Solskjaer’s attendance on 12 September was down to his friendship with McKenna, he could be a strong candidate to replace the former Hull City boss.

The Norwegian guided Man United to a second-place finish in the Premier League back in 2021, suggesting that he can perform well in the Championship.

Solskjaer also steered Besiktas to a fourth-place finish in the Turkish top flight last season, handing them a Europa League qualification spot, further showing that he could do well in the second tier.
