Liverpool will come up against Marc Guehi –  a centre-back the club hold in high regard –  this weekend in the Community Shield.

The England international is entering the final 12 months of his contract at Selhurst Park.

Last summer, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur both showed strong interest in the 24-year-old, and Liverpool are considering a move for him following the sale of Jarell Quansah.

DaveOCKOP.com has been diligently reporting on the Guehi situation, revealing all the way back in March of this year that the Reds made their interest clear to Marc Guehi and his representatives.

We also revealed exclusive news that Guehi has reached personal terms with Liverpool, although the Reds are cautious about meeting Palace’s high asking price.

Crystal Palace reportedly want up to £50million for their defender.

The Englishman remains a key target for Liverpool this summer as the Premier League champions look to strengthen heir defence.

The Eagles are eager to keep Guehi, but manager Oliver Glasner has conceded that the player’s future ultimately lies in his own hands.

Should Guehi push for an exit, he is expected to leave either this summer or depart as a free agent when his deal expires in 2026.

“Marc and me – we have the same fate.” Glasner said.

“I can’t speak, you have to ask Marc.

Of course, everybody wants Marc to sign a new contract.

I don’t know how often this happens here at Palace.

“We never know what will happen in this sometimes crazy transfer market.”

On Palace’s activity in the transfer window, he added: “The difference now is the team stayed together.

“Last year, we lost 10 of the dressing room and added seven – 40% of the dressing room left.

“This year two loan players left and two new come in?

That means the chemistry and spirit is great.

“Everybody knows how we want to play because everybody was here last year.”
