Oliver Glasner wants Strahinja Pavlovic as three-man Marc Guehi replacement shortlist emerges

Mon 1 September 2025 14:15, UK

Oliver Glasner is clearly a fan of AC Milan star Strahinja Pavlovic as Marc Guehi edges closer to a Crystal Palace exit.

Guehi’s medical at Liverpool is expected to happen ahead of the 7pm transfer deadline on Monday, 1 September, having left the Eagles with the perfect leaving present at Villa Park.

The centre-back scored an outrageous effort against Aston Villa on Sunday, 31 August, during a 3-0 win away from Selhurst Park, which is likely to be his final moment in a Palace shirt.

Despite so many rumours circulating around the defender’s future, very little has been done to find a possible replacement until just days before the closing of the summer transfer window.

Pavlovic, who has only been with the Serie A giants since last summer, might already be on the move, and a Premier League switch could be too much for the Serbian international to turn down.

According to Sky Sports (1 September), the Eagles are pursuing three different targets to strengthen at centre-back, and how successful they are will dictate whether or not Guehi moves to Anfield.

Glasner is keen for the club to complete a move for Pavlovic, having been interested in the AC Milan star during the winter window, but it is understood that a deal is not progressing right now.

Despite lifting the FA Cup and Community Shield, beating both Man City and Liverpool in the process, and also qualifying for the Europa Conference League, Palace are facing a lot of frustration.

Eberechi Eze has finally sealed a move to Arsenal, with plenty of big European sides wanting his signature this summer, and he is unlikely to be the final exit before the transfer window slams shut.

Guehi has long been linked with the Reds.

However, it seems those at Selhurst Park are scrambling for a replacement now.

Pavlovic would certainly offer a lot of experience in the centre of defence, boasting 46 caps for Serbia, plus spells with RB Salzburg, Monaco, and Basel in his relatively young career.

The 24-year-old has had very little time to settle into life in Italy, but having already become an important player for AC Milan, he could be on the move yet again.

Of course, with negotiations not yet started with the Eagles, both parties need to put a rush on proceedings if the Premier League side are to replace Anfield-bound Guehi.
