Liverpool wrapped up their summer transfer window in style on Monday as Alexander Isak finally arrived from Newcastle United.

The Reds had one of the most impressive summers in their history, with Isak joining five other superb first team arrivals.

With the squad Arne Slot has managed to assemble, Liverpool will feel that they are well prepared to win big trophies in 2025/26.

However, despite Richard Hughes having delivered an historic window, his work will not stop there.

The sporting director will already be looking ahead to what more can be added to the Liverpool squad in 2026.

Reports have already emerged that Liverpool will look for a Mohamed Salah replacement, with Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise being floated as an option.

And while confirming interest in a potential deal for Olise, journalist Lewis Steele has also assessed the chances of a Liverpool move for Morgan Rogers.

Liverpool were linked with Olise in the final days of the transfer window, with the Frenchman certainly seen as a target for 2026, rather than this year.

As for Rogers, he was never seemingly an active target for the Reds, but the recent, cut-price sale of Harvey Elliott to Aston Villa has led to speculation online.

Some Liverpool supporters believe a deal is in the offing for Rogers, with the Reds lowering Elliott’s price in order to facilitate a future assault.

According to Steele, though, Rogers was certainly not in the cards for Liverpool this summer.

While he says a future move cannot be ruled out, Olise is seemingly a more likely target at this stage.

“A good source mentioned Morgan Rogers to me in June as a potential target but I was told ‘no’ by top Liverpool sources at the time,” he writes in a Q&A with fans for The Daily Mail.

“Does that mean it is completely off the cards?

But they are not directly planning for that at this stage.

“As for Michael Olise, I certainly cannot rule that one out,” Steele adds.

“They want a long-term Mohamed Salah replacement in the next summer or two and the early noises are that Bayern Munich’s former Crystal Palace star Olise could be right at the top of their shopping list.

We can’t say too much more than that yet but could be one to watch…”

At this stage, having just burned through a big load of cash this summer, it feels unlikely that Liverpool will do another mammoth deal next year.
