Tuesday may not have ended well for Liverpool but earlier in the day came what could prove a landmark moment in the fledgling career of one Reds youngster.

In scoring twice in the under-18s 4-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, Kaide Gordon netted his first competitive goals since arriving from Derby County in February.

Max Woltman, a 17-year-old forward who signed his first professional contract at Liverpool in January, netted the other two goals - taking him to four in his last five league games - with England U18 international midfielder James Balagizi contributing two assists for the second league game in a row.

He's only 16 and he's still at school.

Gordon was lively throughout the game, scoring with a near-post drive before capping the U18 Premier League North victory by slotting home from the spot having been fouled following a trademark mazy dribble.

Liverpool were made to work hard by Wolves in the second half for the win, which moves them within three points of leaders Manchester United.

"Max was really good and very positive," adds Bridge-Wilkinson.
