Marcus Thuram is reportedly in talks with Tottenham about a summer transfer, but Liverpool would be smart to try and hijack a potential move.

RMC Sport report that the France forward is set to leave Borussia Monchengladbach this summer.

The French outlet claim that Tottenham are in talks with the player and are in pole position to sign him this summer.

Thuram is seemingly Spurs’ top priority this transfer window and negotiations have advanced in recent days.

However, RTK feels that Liverpool should use their pull and bump ahead of their Premier League rivals in the queue.

The Reds are believed to be in the market for a forward this summer. Thuram may be the perfect choice.

Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and Taki Minamino are all set to leave Anfield in this transfer window.

That would leave just Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota as established players for the front three.

Liverpool would have to sign at least one forward, if not two.

Marcus Thuram would be the perfect solution due to his age and versatility. He can play as a left-winger or as a centre-forward.

You would have to be a special player to make France’s squad for a major tournament, and Thuram did just that for this summer’s Euros.

He made the squad after scoring eight goals and assisting three more in 29 Bundesliga games (20 starts). The season before that was 10 goals and eight assists in 31.

Standing at 6’3? tall, Thuram is almost unstoppable at times. He would suit Jurgen Klopp’s high-intensity game down to the ground.

His height would make him a perfect plan B in Origi’s absence.

Yet, at just 23, Thuram has the potential to be much more than that and to go on to be a top player.

If Spurs do get him, other big sides will regret letting it happen. Liverpool should use their pull to snatch him from under Daniel Levy’ nose.
