However, Slot and co likely have bigger things on their mind, such as the Champions League, with the Opta supercomputer now predicting who it thinks will win the trophy this season.



“Liverpool (20.4%) are favourites to win this season’s Champions League, according to the Opta supercomputer,” they wrote.

“The likeliest threat to Arne Slot’s side are Premier League rivals Arsenal (16.0%), while reigning champions PSG are third favourites to retain their title (12.1%).

“Man City, who won the competition in 2022-23, are given an 8.4% chance, as are Barcelona, while Club World Cup champions Chelsea (7.0%), Real Madrid (5.8%) and Bayern Munich (4.3%) form the chasing pack.”

At the moment, the Premier League is seen as the most competitive league in Europe.



Indeed, others, such as the Serie A and the Bundesliga, have had different winners over the last few years, but with the amount of money spent by English clubs this summer, it’s clear that the Premier League is on top.



Usually, this would translate to that team winning the Champions League, but last term, that wasn’t the case.
