Oscar Bobb could be set for his best season yet for Manchester City as Pep Guardiola completes his summer transfer business.

The Etihad Stadium outfit were busy earlier in the summer transfer window when Rayan Ait-Nouri joined from Wolves and Rayan Cherki signed from Lyon.

More recently, Guardiola has acquired former Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford and Norway Under-21 international Sverre Nypan.

Meanwhile, Ilkay Gundogan wants to stay at Manchester City as the North West side vie to win their fifth Premier League title in six seasons.

Amid long-term injury struggles, Bobb made just three Premier League appearances for Guardiola’s men last term.

The attacking midfielder, who can also play as a winger, went on to score one goal in two Club World Cup appearances this summer as he re-entered the fold.

Meanwhile, Jack Grealish is set to join Everton on loan, meaning Bobb will face less competition for a starting spot in Guardiola’s lineup.

The 22-year-old’s chances of game time have also been increased by the fact that Tottenham are in advanced talks for Savinho.

Bobb burst onto the scene in the 2023/24 season, when he made 26 appearances across all competitions, including 14 Premier League outings.

Meanwhile, James McAtee is close to joining Nottingham Forest, providing a further vote of confidence in Bobb from Guardiola.

Manchester City have completed some of the most eye-catching transfers in Premier League history, such as their move for prolific forward Erling Haaland in 2022.

Amid their high-profile dealings in the market, the North West club have allowed some of their former academy starlets to perform elsewhere in the top flight.

For instance, Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, and Liam Delap endured limited game time at senior level for Man City before subsequently proving their worth in the Premier League.

In recent seasons, Guardiola has trusted the likes of McAtee, Nico O’Reilly, and Rico Lewis with first-team minutes, particularly in competitions such as the FA Cup.

Although McAtee is set to become another Manchester City academy graduate to depart the North West, the exits of Grealish and Savinho will hand Bobb more opportunities.

The Etihad Stadium club face a big job on their hands in knocking defending Premier League champions Liverpool off their perch, but Bobb can help them do that if he is given more game time.
