Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Holland international - who left Liverpool as a free agent this month - had attracted interest from several European giants including Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Wijnaldum chose not to sign an extension to his contract with Liverpool at the end of the season.

Wijnaldum spoke highly of the PSG boss before he joined Liverpool and is now set to join him in France.

Wijnaldum, who made 237 appearances for Liverpool since joining from Newcastle in July 2016, will be looking to go 'further and higher' with his new club.

Speaking of his decision to join PSG, Wijnaldum said: 'Signing for PSG is a new challenge for me.

Speaking about leaving Liverpool during his final appearance as a Red, Wijnaldum said: 'The only regret I probably will have is that I couldn't leave with a title or a prize, that would be really, really good for me, for the fans and for everyone.
