Liverpool are in the market for a new forward following Luis Díaz’s move to Bayern Munich and Darwin Nunez’s imminent departure to the Saudi Pro League.
The Reds have already submitted an offer for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, but it was rejected by Eddie Howe’s side.
Isak has already informed Newcastle he is ready for a new challenge, with Liverpool believed to be his preferred destination.
Reports indicate he has no intention of renewing his current deal, which still has three years remaining.
The 25-year-old missed the Magpies’ pre-season tour of the Far East due to a minor injury and instead trained in Spain with a personal coach.
However, he has now returned to training at Newcastle’s facility, although manager Eddie Howe has made it clear he must “earn the right” to rejoin the first-team squad.
One player admired by Liverpool is Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.
The French international, who joined PSG from Lyon in 2023, has also featured as a false nine under head coach Luis Enrique.
Regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in Europe, Barcola faces stiff competition for a starting spot at PSG from Ballon d’Or contender Ousmane Dembélé and rising star Désiré Doué.
Since arriving in Paris, Barcola has scored 26 goals and provided 30 assists in all competitions.
Reports emerged on Wednesday that Liverpool are interested in signing the Frenchman this summer.
According to ESPN, Paris Saint-Germain turned down two approaches from Liverpool for Barcola – one earlier in the summer and another on Wednesday.
The Ligue 1 champions have no intention of selling the 22-year-old, and Barcola himself is not interested in leaving the club at this stage.
Bundesliga champions also made an approach, which has been rejected.
