Celtic supporters are aiming further criticism at the board over failed transfers after being knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers.
Brendan Rodgers is now tipped to leave Celtic Park after only signing Jahmai Simpson-Pusey on loan from Man City since the middle of July, and only a few days remain of the summer transfer window.
It has often been believed that the manager could be tempted by an exit should he fail to be supported in the transfer market, and the Hoops’ defeat to Kairat Almaty is evidence of that over the last few weeks.
Now, after being knocked out of the competition, transfer rumours are beginning to swirl once again, but with fans far more interested in Europe than the Scottish Premiership, it appears to be too little too late.
Taking to X (27 August), Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph wrote: “Celtic are in talks to sign Hammarby IF winger Sebastian Tounekti.
Negotiations continue,” for a player who has three goals and five assists in 26 games for Hammarby.
The Tunisian international could have made a major impact for the Hoops had an earlier move been made for him, but alas, price also appears to be a problem after missing out on qualification.

Rodgers‘ side have offered nearly half the asking price for the 23-year-old, and fans are taking a massive issue with the board ahead of the 1 September deadline.
The Hoops are yet to replace Kyogo Furuhashi, who is now plying his trade in the Championship with Birmingham City after a failed spell at Rennes, and the club have still not replaced him.
Daizen Maeda is also tipped to leave Celtic, alongside Nicolas Khun, Luis Palma, and Marco Tilio, but with very few players coming into the club ahead of the transfer deadline.
Reacting to the newly rejected bid, one supporter called for the board to be sacked, while another called the club’s “penny-pinching” an embarrassment after missing out on Champions League football.
One fan also believed the bid to be a sign of “panic buying”, and that could certainly be the truth after the Hoops failed to score across two legs against Kazakhstan’s first division side Kairat Almaty.
