Everton could be free to swoop to complete a deal for Southampton’s Tyler Dibling as the threat from Crystal Palace may have been seen off.
Dibling’s emergence was a highlight in an otherwise dismal 2024/25 season for Southampton, and his breakout into their first-team has seen him heavily linked with a move away this summer.
The 19-year-old winger broke through to register four goals and three assists in 38 games in his first full season as a Saints regular, and Everton saw a £27million bid for his services rejected recently [BBC], with the Saints demanding even more amid interest from numerous clubs.
The Toffees had another bid of around £35m rejected in early August [The Guardian], and Crystal Palace have also been after Dibling this summer with Eberechi Eze set to leave to join Arsenal.
Palace have been in talks with Leicester to sign Bilal El-Khannouss [Sacha Tavolieri], however, and are also lining up a fresh approach for another player, which could leave Everton with a free run at his signature in the latter stages of the window.

Palace are suffering a huge blow by losing Eze, and so are understandably targeting two players to come in and fight for his attacking midfield spot in Oliver Glasner’s side for the season ahead.
With El Khannouss set to join, attentions have now turned to their next target with many believing that they are set to go for Dibling, but they now look to be turning to talent from La Liga instead.

Fabrizio Romano (21 August) has reported that Palace have added Villarreal forward Yeremy Pino to their list of targets as an option to help replace Eze and have asked for conditions around a transfer in the last 24 hours.
Sacha Tavolieri has also claimed that the South London outfit have seen a bid of €25m (£21.6m) to for his services rejected by Villarreal, but they are “moving forward” with a deal and so seem likely to send another, more suitable offer.
22-year-old Pino is a senior international for Spain with 15 appearances since 2021, and has been a regular in La Liga and European competitions for Villarreal since his first-team breakthrough in 2020.
He was once a target for Arsenal [Daily Mail] as he made his name at the Estadio de la Ceramica, and would be a pretty big coup for the Eagles if they were to pull off his signing this summer.

With Palace apparently committed to the pursuit of Pino over Dibling now, if that deal does get done, then Everton look very well-placed to make a fresh approach and seal the Saints hotshot’s signature in the coming weeks.
The Guardian (20 August) have claimed that the Toffees are likely to make a fresh move for Dibling and are hopeful of clinching a deal for the winger soon, and this will provide a massive boost with Palace now potentially clearing the path to sign him.
Dibling trained away from his Southampton teammates prior to the start of the new Championship campaign, and that usually only means one thing, despite him coming back into the squad to feature against Ipswich last weekend.
There is no smoke without fire in these situations, and even though the Saints insisted that he was recovering from an injury, the fact they did not want him to aggravate any issue in contact with another player points to a situation in which they are expecting to have to let him leave the club soon.

Everton will be excited by the prospect of him potentially forcing a move to Merseyside before the end of the window, but they still need to stump up a bigger fee to get the move sorted, and Dibling training away from his teammates could give the Toffees more leverage to bring Southampton’s valuation even further down.
It would come as a real shock if the 19-year-old did not see a move to David Moyes‘ side as a pretty obvious and realistic step up for his career right now, and they will surely feel in an even stronger position to make it happen following this new Palace development.
