Liverpool look set to approve Kostas Tsimikas’s exit before the summer transfer window closes, with the club reportedly considering both permanent transfers and loan offers for the 29-year-old Greek international.

Since arriving from Olympiacos in August 2020, Tsimikas has been a reliable backup to Andy Robertson.

However, with Milos Kerkez’s recent signing and Robertson’s continuing role, Tsimikas has fallen out of favor in Arne Slot’s plans.

This was reflected in his omission from the squads for both the Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace and the Premier League season opener.

Paul Joyce has confirmed that Kostas Tsimikas is close to leaving to AS Roma on loan:

“Kostas Tsimikas is closing in on a loan move to AS Roma,” he reported on X.

Meanwhile, Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport likewise report that Kostas Tsimikas is “one step away” from joining Roma – but they add that a 10 million euro buy option could also be inserted in the deal:

“Kostas Tsimikas, Liverpool’s redundant full-back, is approaching,” they report

“Roma is one step away from closing the deal with an onerous loan, perhaps with the possibility of inserting a right of redemption at about ten million euros.”

“In the end, the English club accepted the requests of the Giallorossi.”

Tsimikas is a well-liked member of the playing staff and is a bubbly personality in the dressing room.

The Greek Scouser will be sorely missed if an exit does materialize this summer.

The 29-year-old made only eight Premier League starts from 17 appearances last term.

The likes of Nottingham Forest and Leeds United showed interest earlier in the window, while Lille flirted with taking the Greek international before moving on to other targets.
