Right from the very first day that the summer transfer window was opened in June, it was clear that Alexander Isak was in Arne Slot’s sights.

The Reds broke the British record transfer fee and paid a whopping £125million to prise Isak from Newcastle, but that isn’t what has left Paul Merson in shock.
Even though Liverpool and Isak have both wanted the move to go through for as long as many can remember, it certainly took its sweet time to get the signatures needed on the dotted line.

Even before Isak was tipped to join Liverpool, they were seen as the favourites to come away with the Premier League title.
And, to make things even sweeter, the Reds have actually had a perfect start to their top-flight game as they’ve managed to win all three matches they’ve played.
That is, even though Newcastle and Arsenal were both expected to throw the kitchen sink at them and walk all over Slot’s men.
Now that Isak has arrived, however, it now feels like anything but a Premier League title win will be a failure, that is, even if they do come away with the Champions League.
